4-Day Masai Mara and Lake Nakuru Safari

Safari Overview

This 4-day Kenyan safari offers an incredible journey through two of the country’s most iconic wildlife destinations: the Masai Mara National Reserve and Lake Nakuru National Park. You’ll explore the vast plains of the Masai Mara, famous for its Big Five lions, leopards, elephants, rhinos, and buffaloes as well as the Great Migration of wildebeest and zebras. Lake Nakuru, on the other hand, is renowned for its thriving populations of flamingos, pelicans, and both the endangered black and white rhinos.

Itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi to Masai Mara

Your adventure begins with a morning pickup from your agreed location in Nairobi, followed by a scenic drive to the Masai Mara National Reserve. Along the way, you’ll stop at the Great Rift Valley Viewpoint to admire the breathtaking landscapes that stretch as far as the eye can see.

Upon arrival at the Masai Mara in time for lunch, you’ll check into your camp and relax before heading out on an exciting evening game drive. This is prime time for viewing wildlife, as many animals emerge to graze, hunt, or seek water. Expect to see lions, buffaloes, zebras, giraffes, and elephants in their natural habitat. Nocturnal predators, such as leopards and hyenas, may begin their nightly hunts as the sun sets.

After breakfast, get ready for a full-day game drive in the world-famous Masai Mara, home to an abundance of wildlife. The reserve is renowned for its lions, cheetahs, and African bush elephants. You may also spot elusive leopards, large herds of wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles. Visit the Mara River, where you’ll witness hippos and Nile crocodiles lounging in the water.

During the Great Migration (July to October), millions of wildebeest and zebras cross from Serengeti National Park in Tanzania to the Masai Mara, an awe-inspiring natural spectacle. You’ll have lunch at a scenic picnic spot before continuing your safari through the reserve. The day ends with an evening drive back to your camp.
