After breakfast, you will be picked up from your hotel for a scenic 5-7 hour drive to Selous Game Reserve (with an option for a flight from Dar es Salaam or Zanzibar). By midday, you will arrive at a luxury tented camp along the Rufiji River. After lunch and settling in, the adventure begins with a sunset boat safari along the Rufiji River. As you glide through the water, you’ll enjoy stunning landscapes and witness animals such as hippos, crocodiles, and an array of bird species. Dinner and overnight at your lodge by the riverbank.

Today is dedicated to a full day of game drives in Selous Game Reserve, named after the British explorer Frederick Selous. Selous is the largest protected wildlife reserve in Africa and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The reserve is home to vast numbers of elephants, buffalo, and the elusive black rhino. You’ll also have the chance to see giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, hippos, lions, leopards, and wild dogs one of the best places in Tanzania to spot these elusive predators. With about 350 species of birds, the reserve is a birdwatcher’s paradise.

Start your day with a walking safari, where you may interact with local communities during a village walk, led by your guide. Afterward, you’ll embark on a game drive through Selous Game Reserve en route to Mikumi Township. Upon arrival in the late afternoon, you’ll check into your camp just outside Mikumi National Park. Enjoy a relaxing evening, dinner, and overnight stay.

After breakfast, you’ll head toward Ruaha National Park via Iringa. Upon arrival, enjoy a picnic lunch followed by an afternoon game drive. Dinner and overnight at your lodge near the park.

Today, you’ll have a full day of exploring Ruaha National Park, which spans over 20,226 square kilometers, making it the largest national park in Tanzania. The park also hosts rare species like Greater and Lesser Kudu, roan antelope, and sable antelope. Bird lovers will delight in the more than 370 recorded species. Picnic lunch will be provided, and you’ll return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

After breakfast, you’ll leave Ruaha for Mikumi National Park via Iringa town, a 4 to 4.5-hour drive. Mikumi, part of the Selous Ecosystem, is framed by the Uluguru Mountains and the Great Rift Valley Escarpments. After arriving around noon, you’ll embark on a game drive with a packed lunch, followed by dinner and overnight at your lodge or camp.

Spend a full day exploring Mikumi National Park. You can choose between a full-day game drive with a packed lunch or morning and afternoon game drives with a lunch break at your lodge. Mikumi offers fantastic opportunities to see elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, and a variety of antelopes like elands, impalas, and wildebeests. You can also opt for a guided walking safari with an armed ranger (additional cost). Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

After breakfast, enjoy one final game drive (optional) before checking out of the park. After lunch, you’ll drive back to Dar es Salaam, where your safari concludes.
