Itinerary
Day 1: Journey to Akagera National Park & Night Game Drive
Kick off your adventure by visiting Akagera National Park, a stunning expanse of nature located in Eastern Rwanda. Named after the Kagera River, which flows along the eastern border with Tanzania, this park is a haven for wildlife enthusiasts. With a mix of savannah, woodlands, wetlands, and numerous lakes, Akagera is home to the Big Five—lion, leopard, cape buffalo, rhinoceros, and elephant—alongside hundreds of other species, making it a prime location for unforgettable game viewing.
As dusk falls, embark on an exciting night game drive to witness the park’s nocturnal wonders. Experience the thrill of spotting wildlife after dark before returning to Magashi Lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Full-Day Game Drive
After an early breakfast, embark on a morning game drive, moving from thick bushes to the expansive open savannah. This diverse landscape increases your chances of spotting a variety of wildlife, including buffalo, elephants, antelope, zebras, giraffes, baboons, and monkeys.
Later in the afternoon after enjoying your lunch continue your safari adventure, soaking in the beauty of the park and its diverse ecosystems. After a day filled with wildlife encounters, head back to Magashi Lodge for dinner and a restful overnight stay.

Day 3: Boat Trip on Lake Ihema & Return to Kigali
In the morning, after breakfast, head to Lake Ihema, the largest water body within Akagera and the second largest in Rwanda. Enjoy a scenic boat cruise where you can spot large pods of hippos, Nile crocodiles, and a variety of water birds on the islands.
After your boat safari, check out of your lodge and embark on your return journey to Kigali. Make a lunch stop at the Imigongo Art Center to experience local art and culture. Later, you will continue your drive back to Kigali, filled with unforgettable memories from your wildlife safari.
